Veterinarians

Amaia Cía
Veterinary Director
Amaia founded Hospital Veterinario Pamplona in 1997, the first veterinary centre in Navarre to be open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. She specialises in Soft Tissue Surgery and Ophthalmology, with a postgraduate diploma from the Autonomous University of Barcelona.Besides her interest in ethology, Amaia reads about history, writes children’s stories, and has published several novels and children’s books.

Alejandro Valls
Veterinarian
Alejandro graduated with a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Zaragoza in 1986. He has always worked in small animal practices, focusing mainly on General Surgery and Traumatology. He has been the Head of the hospital's Traumatology service since 2023.Personally, he’s a big sports fan and loves spending his free time with his family and pets.

Alicia Escalada
Veterinarian
Alicia graduated with a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Santiago de Compostela in 2016. She joined the hospital in 2018, after working in several veterinary centres throughout Spain. She is the Head of the Ultrasound and Cardiology Departmentswith postgraduate training in both specialisations.

Alba Placed
Veterinarian
Alba graduated with a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Zaragoza in 2017. Since then, she has worked in several small animal hospitals and joined ours in 2022. Her areas of interest are A&E, intensive care, and soft tissue surgery.She has completed several postgraduate degrees, including a postgraduate degree in A&E and Intensive Care, as well as a Foundation Postgraduate degree in Soft Tissue Surgery, both from the UAB. She is currently continuing her training in surgery and inpatient care.

Andrea Echávarri
Veterinarian
Andrea graduated with a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Santiago de Compostela. She completed a Master's in Small Animal Clinical Practice at the UAB, a rotating internship at Hospital Sierra de Madrid, and a postgraduatedegree in Clinical Neurology at the Catholic University of Valencia. Her main interests are Neurology and Advanced Diagnostic Imaging, and she always provides compassionate and professional care.

Lara Izquierdo
Veterinarian
Lara graduated with a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Zaragoza in 2023. She has worked in Ireland and Spain in mixed practices where she eventually discovered that her true calling was small animals.With a special interest in feline medicine, she is currently undertaking a Master’s in Internal Medicine.

Loreto Alquézar
Veterinarian
Loreto graduated with a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Zaragoza in 2009. She has completed several Master's degrees and courses, most notably a Master's in Internal Medicine.She joined our hospital in 2016 and has been working in Internal Medicine and A&E ever since.

Maialen Cortés
Veterinarian
Maialen graduated with a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Zaragoza. She joined the team in 2021, where she heads the Oncology Service. She completed a Master's in Internal Medicine and various training courses in Oncology.She also handles the paperwork for travelling abroad with cats and dogs. Maialen has another great passion: travelling.

María José Fernández
Veterinarian
María José graduated with a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of León in 2018. In 2021, she completed her postgraduate degree in Internal Medicine, where she gained a solid foundation for the comprehensive treatment of complex diseases.In 2025, she completed a Master’s in Endoscopy and Minimally Invasive Surgery from the University of Cáceres, which has allowed her to specialise in advanced diagnostic and surgical techniques that are less invasive and focused on animal welfare. She currently manages the chronic patient programme and is the Coordinator of our hospital’s Veterinary Surgeon Team.

Mercedes Guitiérrez
Veterinarian
Mercedes graduated with a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of León. She has been working in small animal hospitals ever since and has been a part of our team since 2005. Mercedes is the Head of Exotic Animals and Dermatologyareas in which she continues to train and update her knowledge. Mercedes enjoys reading, travelling, and photography.

Paula Olmo
Veterinarian
Paula graduated with a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of León. She completed a rotating internship in small animals at Hospital Veterinario San Vicente del Raspeig and collaborated with a rescue centre in the Bolivian Amazon,where she worked with jaguars and primates. She currently works as a generalist veterinary surgeon and in A&E, with a special interest in inpatient care and looking after patients.

Ainara Castillo

For Ainara, caring for and protecting the most vulnerable animals isn't just a job, it's her true vocation. She started by doing a work placement at our hospital and now looks after patients and their families every day with dedication and sensitivity.In her free time, she likes to walk her dog, enjoy time with friends, and… rescue animals.

Aitana Amóstegui
Veterinary nurse
Aitana holds a Higher Education Qualification in Livestock and Animal Health Assistance. She is part of the inpatient team, where she combines attentive and compassionate care for our patients with a strong professional commitment. he loves cooking and hiking.
Claudia Ospitaletche
Veterinary nurse
Claudia specialises in Inpatient Care and A&E. Her dedication, empathy, and ability to act with precision in critical situations make her an essential support for our most fragile patients. She's passionate about all aspects of animal health for both domestic and exotic animals.In her free time, she loves to dance and walk her dogs in the mountains.

Evelin Sosa
Veterinary nurse
Evelin holds an accredited specialisation in Exotic Animal Medicine and Management. She currently works in the Intensive Care, A&E, and Surgery Unit. She also trains and mentors future nurses at the hospital.She’s studying for a degree in Biology, but she still finds time for her greatest passion: falconry.

Lorena García
Veterinary nurse
Lorena works in Internal Medicine, with a special focus on caring for inpatients and ICU patients, as well as collecting samples and managing the laboratory. She currently also assists with reception and client care duties.In addition, Lorena loves fashion and design.

Maialen Cibiriáin
Veterinary nurse
Maialen holds a Higher Education Qualification in Livestock and Animal Health Assistance. Her professional experience has focused on caring for small animals. In her free time, she enjoys doing sports and is a handball coach.
Nerea Mouriño
Veterinary nurse
Nerea is part of the Veterinary Nurse team for Internal Medicine, ICU and A&E. With extensive clinical experience and a strong commitment to animal welfare, she stands out for her ability to work in critical situations, her safe handling skills, and herinvolvement in every case. She also has training and expertise in handling chemotherapy and laboratory work.

Raquel Luque
Veterinary nurse
Raquel has worked at our hospital since 2018, when she joined the team after her work placement. Her main areas of interest are Veterinary A&E and the ICU. Her passion for looking after her patients' healthmotivates her to continue training and specialising in her profession.

Yoana Sánchez
Veterinary nurse
Yoana has been part of the hospital since 2009. She is the Coordinator of the Veterinary Nurse Team. Her work focuses on improving the team's tasks and providing close, professional care for clients and patients. In her free time, she loves hikingand taking photos, two passions that perfectly match her love for nature.

Valeria Villafañe

Valeria is a veterinary nursing assistant and a qualified veterinary technician with a deep passion for animal care. At our hospital, she ensures both clients and the animals we treat feel better.She is always keen to learn in order to keep her knowledge up to date. In her spare time, she enjoys crafts and travelling.

Garazi Jiménez
Veterinary nurse
Garazi joined the hospital team in 2018. She has a versatile profile and actively participates in all areas of the hospital, from inpatient care to performing laboratory tests. Her specialisation, however, is in the operating theatre, where shefocuses on patient preparation, monitoring, and anaesthesia control. For her, every patient is unique, and their well-being is always the top priority. Garazi is a cinephile who is passionate about mystery and suspense narratives.

César Jiménez
Administrative Manager
César has a degree in Economics and a Master's in International Trade Management. His professional career has developed in various sectors. Since joining our hospital, he has been able to combine his two great passions:managing the resources of our veterinary centre and hislove for animals. He loves sports, nature, and the sea.

Sofía Charro
Recepcionist
Sofía is the first person our clients see when they arrive at the hospital. A qualified early years teacher, she ran her own school for 28 years. At the hospital, she greets clients, manages the veterinary surgeons' diary, and controls orders and accounts.Gardening and sculpting with clay and wood are other passions of hers.
